What is Pelvic Floor Ultrasound?

Pelvic Floor Ultrasound (PFU) is an important diagnostic tool, providing vital visualisation of the pelvic floor muscles; bladder, urethra, vagina, uterus, perineum and anal canal.

These images are invaluable in providing a “window” for Dr Wong to see beyond surface anatomy. It enables a more comprehensive diagnosis when evaluating pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal mesh related-complications, urinary incontinence and urinary symptoms.

More importantly, it provides Dr Wong with a better understanding on the status of your pelvic floor muscle structure and understand why certain procedures have not worked for you, especially if you have already had surgery for prolapse or urinary incontinence.

Dr Wong is an expert in pelvic floor ultrasound and has received training in a world class centre during her urogynaecology subspecialty program. She is the only urogynaecologist in Queensland to be able to offer a comprehensive 4 Dimensional PFU in the rooms.

You will be able to have the PFU during your initial consultation with Dr Wong.

Dr Wong will also be able to perform pelvic floor ultrasounds for you if your treating clinician feels that you would benefit from having one.
