Dr Wong may recommend that you undergo a cystoscopy procedure to have a better look at the inside of your bladder.
A flexible tiny camera with a light at the end will be inserted into the urethra, your water pipe. It is then moved into your bladder and from there Dr Wong will be able to see images of the inside of your bladder on a screen.
There may be occasions where Dr Wong will perform a cystoscopy procedure where a sample of the bladder tissue is taken for lab testing for further investigation on any lesions that are of concern.

Does it hurt?
The procedure may be uncomfortable, but you will receive a local anaesthetic gel or spray to numb the area. If a sample of your bladder tissue is required, general anaesthetic will then be offered to you.
Are there any side effects?
It is not uncommon to feel some discomfort or a burning sting when passing urine initially after the cystsocopy procedure. You may also notice that your urine looks blood-tinged.
There is a small risk of developing urinary tract infections, however all measures will be taken to reduce this risk.
